David is a “cradle Catholic” who grew up in Alabama and completed his education in that state, graduating from the University of Alabama School of Medicine in 1981. He completed a residency and fellowship in Anatomic, Clinical and Surgical Pathology in 1987, moved to Fort Myers for his first and only job and has practiced hospital based and outpatient Pathology since then.

After a few trials and life’s hard knocks David experienced an adult conversion experience embarking on a spiritual path of intentional discipleship that brought him to the point of recognizing a call to the Permanent Diaconate. He recently completed his formation toward the diaconate and was ordained as a Permanent Deacon for the Diocese of Venice in June of 2015. David has been assigned to his home Parish of the Resurrection of Our Lord in Fort Myers.

He and his wife, Mary, of 34 years, have two children, a son and daughter, who are thankfully grown and contributing citizens. Mary and David have been involved in volunteer work in the Caribbean island of St. Lucia and serve the Lord locally in elderly ministry and work with unwed mothers.
